So it appears that T Swift directed a short movie which is actually a music video. That’s a really good start for a director.
TaylorSwift is now being asked to take part in DIRECTOR ON DIRECTORS COLLECTION of Interviews where a seasoned director of movies, television & other mediums talks to another director with the same credentials about the job.
In case you aren’t familiar with the series, two directors — typically, who’ve both released projects in the past year — are given the opportunity to interview one another about their careers.
Here-in lies the problem. Taylor is NOT a seasoned director but she has directed one music video. When her name was added to this collection there was a backlash about this but it is not a problem, at least it’s not for Taylor or the director she’s interviewing = Academy Award winner and two-time nominee Martin McDonagh.
I am of two minds about this collection – Taylor is getting backlash because people in the entertainment industry view her as an interloper. But isn’t that a bias view of a young person and the talents they may bring to a project? I think so and how will young people like Taylor learn and become an expert in the craft of direction if she doesn’t just start somewhere.
Seasoned directors have a niche feeling about what they do is special and they don’t want to share it with others lesser of who they think they are. That’s elitist and frankly I think these directors are angry because Swift is edging to become an EGOT winner.
For those of you who do not know what an EGOT winner is – EMMY, GRAMMY, OSCAR AND TONY awards. You win for any of those or all of those – just like WHOOPIE GOLDBERG you become an EGOT WINNA.
Swift got her Oscar and Grammys for her music. I like her music. I think they are fun song except for the revenge songs against her old lover boyfriends. It gets boring after awhile and really I don’t want to know how she is between the sheets. TMI for me honestly.
