Actor/Host Whoopie Goldberg & the Jewish Question

Whoopie Goldberg’s real name is Caryn Johnson. She was born in NYC and lived in the Projects for her first years on planet earth. Today she is the host and moderator of TV show THE VIEW, which I rarely watch because it makes me nauseous. The players around the table are women and that should make me eager to see the show but much like the other show in California-THE TALK I just can’t watch it.

The women for the most part are intelligent but there are times that Goldberg says and does things that irk people. Talking about Jews while Black is a big problem for her especially when Goldberg tries to convince the audience in the studio and at home that she is right and that the holocaust was about race.

Whoopie Goldberg claims that the Jews are divided about whether they are a race, religion or both. Here’s a thought – they are a culture, they are also speak Hebrew, some live in Israel and some are living outside in the diaspora – their religion is Judaism.

Goldberg insists that the Jewish people were isolated by the Nazi’s based upon their RACE. This is exactly what Goldberg said AGAIN on THE VIEW after she was reinstated after being suspended for several weeks based on what people are calling her antisemitic views.

When The Times journalist Janice Turner mentioned racially divisive laws set by Nazis aimed at Jews, “The View” cohost insisted that the Holocaust “wasn’t originally” about “racial” or “physical” attributes.
“They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision,” she said.

This is absolutely wrong as far as I know since I read Mein Kompf in high school in English not the German version. In it Hitler said “who will remember the Armenians”. Well he was wrong about that too because I’m still here and so are 8-16 Million others. So they couldn’t extinguish our light and we were systematically murdered by the Young Turks (not the cable show) under a callous Turkish leader named TALAAT PASHA. The reason Armenians were slaughtered by the Turks was the exact same reason the Jews were slaughtered by the Germans. They were too good at their businesses and Hitler thought they were taking over Germany. That is the same thing the Turks thought about the Armenians. So both ethnic groups were targeted by the same hateful group of people at different times in world history.

The Times journalist Janice Turner spoke with Goldberg:

telling Goldberg, “Nazis saw Jews as a race.” Goldberg:
“Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it? The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis . Why believe what they’re saying?” the “Till” actress responded.
Goldberg added, “It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street. You could find me. You couldn’t find them.”

So because Goldberg is black and it’s obvious you can spot her on the street and that is why Black people are more suspectable to racism than what the Nazi’s did to the Jews and for that matter what the Turks did to the Armenians. She fails to realize that Jews in Germany were made to wear GOLD STARS OF DAVID to identify themselves as JEWS.

The reporter is correct. The Nazi’s and Hitler saw the Jews as a race of people who were more advanced than they were and the Nazi’s hated them because they felt they were taking over their country. This has a familiar ring to it because today in America we have WHITE SUPREMISTS among us with the same ideology that the Nazi’s had all those decades ago which is not so far away from 2022.

As a creative production person I worked with a documentary film where I had to view 3 days worth of Army Footage taken when the Allies freed the Jews from all the concentration camps. My job was to create a log by time/scene/description what was in that scene. I was sick for a week after logging those tapes. The carnage and the amount of horror piled up in those concentration camps where millions of innocent women, men and children were experimented upon, gassed to death in GE OVENS manufactured in America.

One of my late cousins was married to a German woman who no one liked in the family. She and her family helped the Jews escape Nazi’s by hiding them and helping the underground to get them out of Germany safely. On one of their vacations together they went to Auschwitz-Birkenau where they took a tour of the prison. My cousin swore he heard the sounds of children sobbing and people wailing but there were others with them on that tour of the prison and they all heard the same thing. Residual energy of the suffering Jewish people who were being tortured by Nazis.

There may have been some black Jews held there as well as Armenians, Gypsies and Gay people – all of whom the Nazi’s hated and wanted to get rid of because they were not a part of their ARYAN race. The Nazi’s believed that PURE GERMAN BLOOD over tainted mixed with Jewish people was the worst thing that could happen to a German.

Obviously Goldberg hasn’t a clue about the Holocaust history and should do herself a favor and go check it out at the Holocaust Museum. Or maybe read about it online – there is plenty of evidence of what the Nazi’s did to the Jews. Germany didn’t give millions in reparations because they are good people – they did it to give new generations of Germans a way to hold up their heads after the disaster that was Hitler and the Nazi regime.

If Goldberg continues to say these antisemitic things about the Jews – she is right there with Kanye West, another antisemite who is also biting the hands that fed him and his family. The more these two people speak about subjects they have no idea about what is the truth – they should just shut up, imo. If you don’t know facts – find out. This is a good way to kill your career and frankly if you cannot understand what the Jewish people are saying to you, Goldberg – drop your Jewish stage name and call yourself by your birth name Johnson.

There are just so many ways Goldberg could enlighten herself but she prefers to sit on her VIEW THRONE and pontificate about subjects she has no clue about. To continue to compare the Jewish Holocaust to the persecution of the Black people around the world is just ludicrous. On both issues – the slave issue that Kanye has zero idea what he’s saying when he says “there were no black slaves in America” and what Goldberg is saying about Jews – they are basically comparing the early onset of white racism stemming from the plantations of the south in the 1600s to the plight of Jews everywhere in the world during the time of WW2.

There is no contest. Both issues are repugnant. Both should be investigated and these crimes against humanity should never arise again but they will because people have a short attention span of memory. They took down all the statues and reminders of black life in America of the leaders who owned black slaves. Keep the up as part of our tainted history so we do not make these same mistakes again.

Whoopi Goldberg is talking again about whether the Holocaust, which involved the murder of 6 million Jewish people, was racially motivated.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times of London, shared during Hanukkah, Goldberg suggested Jews are divided about whether they are a race, religion or both.

“My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race,’ ” she recalled.

Turner continued to push back, telling Goldberg, “Nazis saw Jews as a race.”

“Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it? The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?” the “Till” actress responded.

Goldberg added, “It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street. You could find me. You couldn’t find them.”

The actress was previously suspended from “The View” in January for similar remarks. Addressing those comments, she said, “That was the point I was making. But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked.”

‘I don’t know how we survived’: A new generation of antisemitism we thought was behind us

Goldberg’s comments to The Times of London are being met with backlash. “This is one of the times where I think someone should force Whoopi Goldberg to go to a Holocaust museum and learn about the Nuremberg laws,” video game director Luc Bernard wrote on Twitter.

“Someone tell Whoopi her remarks are still abhorrent and ignorant even when spoken to a British paper,” Boundless Israel founder Aviva Klompas wrote.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Goldberg, the Anti-Defamation League and “The View” for comment.

Whoopi Goldberg was previously suspended from ‘The View’ over her remarks about the Holocaust

Goldberg’s new comments echo remarks she made about the Holocaust on “The View,” which led to a suspension in February.

ABC News president Kim Godwin said that Goldberg would be suspended from “The View” for two weeks effective immediately for “her wrong and hurtful comments,” in a statement shared with USA TODAY on Feb. 2.

“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin added. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

Goldberg posted a now-deleted statement expressing her “sincerest apologies” on Twitter on Jan. 31, after the episode aired, also echoing a statement from Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt who wrote that the Holocaust “was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people – who they deemed to be an inferior race.”

“On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both,” she wrote. “I stand corrected. The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused.”

On the show the following day, she addressed the controversy again, saying she “misspoke.”

“My words upset so many people, which was never my intention,” she said. “I understand why now, and for that I am deeply, deeply grateful, because the information I got was really helpful and helped me understand some different things.”

What did Whoopi Goldberg say about the Holocaust?

Goldberg made her initial comments during a discussion about a Tennessee school board banning the book “Maus” from the eighth-grade English and language arts curriculum.

The graphic novel, written by comic artist Art Spiegelman, tells the story of his Jewish parents living in 1940s Poland and follows them through their internment in Auschwitz. Nazis are portrayed as cats, while Jewish people are shown as mice.

“If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it, because the Holocaust isn’t about race,” Goldberg said at the time. “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”

Co-host Joy Behar chimed in, saying, “Well, they considered Jews a different race,” in reference to the Nazis. Anna Navarro also pushed back, saying, “But it’s about white supremacy.”

Goldberg doubled down.

“But these are two white groups of people,” she said. “You’re missing the point. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem. It doesn’t matter if you’re Black or white, ’cause Black, white, Jews … everybody eats each other.”
